LIRS Extends Deadline for Filing Annual Income Tax Returns to April 21, 2026

LIRS Executive Chairman, Ayodele Subair

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has announced a further extension of the deadline for the filing of individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.

According to the agency, the decision follows a surge in activity on its eTax platform after an earlier extension to April 14, 2026, as more taxpayers rushed to meet compliance requirements.

The agency, in a statement by its Head, Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, said the additional extension is aimed at ensuring all taxpayers have sufficient time to complete their filings successfully, while also improving convenience and maintaining the accuracy of submitted information.

It reminded residents that filing of annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation and encouraged taxpayers to take advantage of the new deadline to fulfill their civic responsibility.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, reaffirmed that all submissions must be made strictly via the official eTax platform, which remains the only approved channel for filing.

Taxpayers were also advised to seek assistance through LIRS offices or official communication channels where necessary.
