Command dismisses viral image as AI-generated, says NUP protest ended peacefully The Lagos State Police Command has denied reports that members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Lagos State Council, were tear-gassed during their protest at the Lagos State Governor’s Office, Alausa, Ikeja. The Command described the allegation as false and misleading, insisting that no canister of tear gas was fired throughout the duration of the protest. According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, about 500 NUP members staged the protest at the Governor’s Office at approximately 8:30am on Monday, August 31, 2026. Police Declare Two Lagos Men Wanted Over Alleged N115m Fraud

The Nigeria Police Force has declared two Lagos men, Oloyede Joshua Olowoyo and Tomiloye Michael Sunday, wanted over their alleged involvement in a N115 million fraud case. The two suspects were declared wanted in separate Special Police Gazette Bulletins issued on the authority of the Inspector-General of Police and referenced CR: 3000/LSX/SET 3/VOL. 4/106. According to the police, Olowoyo is wanted in connection with allegations of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. Tomiloye, on the other hand, is wanted over allegations of conspiracy, fraud, forgery, impersonation and obtaining money. The police alleged that the two men conspired with others still at large to fraudulently obtain N115 million from a complainant under false pretences.
