IGP Disu Inducted As CIPM Fellow, Honoured For Leadership, Human Resource Development, Administrative Excellence

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has been inducted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, CIPM.

The induction ceremony was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the fellowship recognises Disu’s leadership, commitment to human resource development, professionalism and administrative excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.

The President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, FNLI, described the IGP as a reform-minded leader with demonstrated capacity in people management, institutional transformation and welfare-driven leadership.

In his acceptance remarks, Disu expressed appreciation to the institute for the honour, saying effective personnel management remained central to modern policing.

He pledged to continue promoting merit, capacity building, discipline and the welfare of police officers as key pillars of a professional and service-oriented police force.

The CIPM Fellowship is the highest membership cadre of the institute and is reserved for distinguished professionals who have made significant contributions to human resource management and leadership.

CAPPA Urges Policymakers to Regulate Festive Food Marketing in Public Interest

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has called on Nigerian policymakers to urgently regulate the marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages, warning that weak oversight is allowing corporate interests to undermine public health, particularly during festive periods. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos while presenting a new report titled Unhealthy Food Hijack of Festive Periods in Nigeria, CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, said incremental policy responses were no longer sufficient given Nigeria’s rising burden of non-communicable diseases. World Obesity Day: CAPPA Urges Tougher Curbs on Junk Food Marketing

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa has called for stricter government regulation of junk food marketing, warning that aggressive promotion of unhealthy foods is fuelling rising obesity and other noncommunicable diseases in Nigeria. In a statement issued to mark World Obesity Day 2026, CAPPA said decisive policy action is urgently required to protect public health, particularly among children and young people. The organisation noted that obesity has become one of the world’s most pressing health challenges, citing projections that nearly half of the global population — about four billion people — could be living with overweight or obesity by 2035. This year’s theme, “8 billion reasons to act on obesity,” highlights the global scale of the crisis and the need for coordinated action to address it.
