POLAC, Kano Police Strengthen Training, Intelligence Collaboration

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, and the Kano State Police Command have renewed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in training, capacity building, intelligence-driven policing and professional development.

The commitment was made during an operational synergy visit by the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, AIG Auwal Musa Muhammad, to the Kano State Police Headquarters, Bompai.

According to a statement issued and signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the visit featured the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, a group photograph and prayers for sustained peace and professional excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.


The Commandant commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, for his leadership and professionalism in managing security challenges in the state, describing Kano as a complex environment requiring patience, expertise and dedication.

AIG Muhammad also acknowledged the Command’s support for the Police Academy and expressed appreciation for its continued cooperation.

Responding, CP Bakori described the Academy as a key institution for grooming future police leaders and welcomed greater partnership in the training, retraining and mentoring of police officers and cadets.

He also assured the Academy of the Command’s continued operational and logistical support whenever required.

CAPPA Urges Policymakers to Regulate Festive Food Marketing in Public Interest

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has called on Nigerian policymakers to urgently regulate the marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages, warning that weak oversight is allowing corporate interests to undermine public health, particularly during festive periods. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos while presenting a new report titled Unhealthy Food Hijack of Festive Periods in Nigeria, CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, said incremental policy responses were no longer sufficient given Nigeria’s rising burden of non-communicable diseases. As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to commemorate World Food Day 2025, the Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has raised concern over the growing dominance of ultra-processed foods in the country’s food system, warning that weak regulation and unchecked corporate influence are endangering public health. In a statement signed by CAPPA’s Media and Communication Officer, Robert Egbe, and released in Lagos on Thursday, the group said the government must urgently strengthen laws that protect citizens from deceptive marketing and unhealthy food products.
