... Eti-Osa Chairman Honoured As Administration Marks First Year In Office



The Executive Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, Omo’ba (Dr.) Adeola Alimot Adetoro, has been honoured with the 2026 National Leadership Award as the “Overall Best LGA Chairman in Nigeria.”

The award was presented at a ceremony in Abuja, where the Chairman was represented by the Leader of the Eti-Osa Legislative Arm, Hon. Sadiq Mudashiru, who received the award on her behalf.

The recognition comes as the Adetoro administration marks its first year in office, with the local government highlighting projects and programmes implemented across its communities.


According to a statement by the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Tokunbo Ajayi, the administration has commissioned and unveiled several projects as part of activities marking its first anniversary under the HEYIGA Agenda.

The projects and interventions include road infrastructure, healthcare facilities, business grants, empowerment programmes and other social interventions aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

The statement described the award as another milestone in the anniversary celebrations and said the recognition was received with pride by the people of Eti-Osa.

The administration also expressed its commitment to pursuing further development initiatives in the local government.

CAPPA Urges Policymakers to Regulate Festive Food Marketing in Public Interest

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has called on Nigerian policymakers to urgently regulate the marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages, warning that weak oversight is allowing corporate interests to undermine public health, particularly during festive periods. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos while presenting a new report titled Unhealthy Food Hijack of Festive Periods in Nigeria, CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, said incremental policy responses were no longer sufficient given Nigeria’s rising burden of non-communicable diseases. World Obesity Day: CAPPA Urges Tougher Curbs on Junk Food Marketing

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa has called for stricter government regulation of junk food marketing, warning that aggressive promotion of unhealthy foods is fuelling rising obesity and other noncommunicable diseases in Nigeria. In a statement issued to mark World Obesity Day 2026, CAPPA said decisive policy action is urgently required to protect public health, particularly among children and young people. The organisation noted that obesity has become one of the world’s most pressing health challenges, citing projections that nearly half of the global population — about four billion people — could be living with overweight or obesity by 2035. This year’s theme, “8 billion reasons to act on obesity,” highlights the global scale of the crisis and the need for coordinated action to address it.
