Police, EFCC rescue 14 abducted victims from Calabar–Oron waterways



The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has rescued 14 victims abducted by sea pirates along the Calabar-Oron waterways.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, said in a statement that the victims were rescued following sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated tactical efforts targeting criminal networks operating within the maritime corridor.

Security operatives acted on credible intelligence to intensify surveillance and carry out targeted operations across identified flashpoints, leading to the safe rescue of all victims without harm.

DCP Placid confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical evaluation and debriefing before being reunited with their families.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the joint security team for the operation, describing it as a demonstration of effective inter-agency collaboration and intelligence-driven policing.

He reiterated the commitment of security agencies to sustaining the crackdown on maritime crime and ensuring the safety of waterways.

IGP Disu also assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the abduction and bring them to justice.
