The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of a planned cult-related clash in parts of the state, describing the circulating message as false and capable of causing unnecessary panic.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi on Monday, the command said it had deployed personnel and operational assets to areas mentioned in the reports, including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda and Ishaga, to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The state Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olayiwola Fatai, said proactive measures had been taken to secure the affected areas and adjoining communities.

He added that patrols had been intensified, with officers strategically positioned to ensure public safety and deter any unlawful activities.

CP Fatai assured residents that there was no cause for alarm and urged them to go about their daily activities without fear.

He also advised the public to disregard unverified information and rely on official channels for credible updates.

The state police boss encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
