Police Arrest Suspected Vandal on Third Mainland Bridge, Recover 20 Road Studs

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old suspected vandal for tampering with road safety installations on the Third Mainland Bridge.

The suspect, identified as Dogara John, was apprehended on April 6, 2026, while allegedly removing reflective road studs installed on the bridge to enhance visibility for motorists.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi said that a search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of 20 of the vandalised road studs found in the suspect’s possession.

Adebisi noted that the reflective studs are critical safety components designed to guide drivers, particularly at night and during poor weather conditions, on one of the busiest routes in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, condemned the act, reiterating the command’s zero tolerance for vandalism and destruction of public infrastructure.

He warned that such actions pose significant risks to road users and undermine ongoing efforts to maintain safety and order.

He called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, especially around public infrastructure, to security agencies.
