Police Assure Safety Ahead of JAMB Examination, Dismiss Rumours

The Nigeria Police Force has assured candidates and the general public of adequate security ahead of the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination scheduled to begin on April 16, 2026.

The police dismissed circulating reports alleging insecurity at some examination centres in a North Central state, describing the claims as unfounded.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the police said proactive measures had been put in place to ensure a safe and conducive environment for candidates nationwide.

According to the statement, additional security personnel have been deployed to examination centres across the country, with both overt and covert operations to prevent any disruption.

The force said the measures include routine patrols, perimeter checks, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations, in collaboration with other security agencies.

It warned that any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process would be apprehended and prosecuted.

The police advised candidates to arrive early at their centres, comply with examination guidelines, and report any suspicious activities to security personnel on ground.

It also urged the public to disregard unverified information on social media and rely on official updates from relevant authorities.

It reiterated its commitment to ensuring security and public confidence during national activities, including the JAMB examinations.
