IGP Disu Pledges Intelligence, Operational Support to NAPTIP in Anti-trafficking Fight

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has pledged full operational and intelligence support to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to strengthen the fight against human trafficking and organised crime.

Disu made the commitment on April 21, 2026, while receiving the Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, during a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the meeting, Bello commended the Nigeria Police Force for its continued support and called for enhanced collaboration, particularly in technical assistance and joint operational frameworks, to address the agency’s expanding mandate.

In response, the IGP assured that the Force would deploy its full capabilities to support NAPTIP’s operations, with a focus on intelligence-led strategies aimed at dismantling organised crime networks.

He outlined plans for strengthened joint operations, real-time intelligence sharing, and the deployment of liaison officers to improve coordination between both agencies.

Disu also pledged the support of specialised police units, including the Intelligence Response Team and the NPF National Cybercrime Centre, alongside targeted capacity-building programmes and training for NAPTIP personnel.

He further disclosed that regular strategic briefings would be institutionalised to track progress and sustain collaboration between the agencies.

The Inspector-General said the strengthened partnership reflects a zero-tolerance approach to human trafficking and related crimes, warning that perpetrators would find no safe haven in the country.
