CP Fatai Strengthens Military Ties in Lagos, Pushes Joint Security Operations



The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, has reaffirmed the importance of inter-agency collaboration during a series of strategic visits to military formations across the state.

The visits, which took place on Wednesday, covered the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, the Nigerian Air Force’s 651 Base Service Group, and the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft in Apapa.

During the engagements, CP Fatai emphasised that effective security management in Lagos requires seamless cooperation among security agencies, noting that unity of purpose remains critical in tackling evolving threats.

At the 9 Brigade, Ikeja, the police commissioner met with Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Ayokunle Owolabi, where discussions focused on strengthening joint internal security operations and sustaining coordinated efforts to safeguard residents.

At the Nigerian Air Force base in Ikeja, talks with Air Commodore M. A. Imam centred on enhancing professionalism, intelligence sharing, and operational cooperation between both agencies.

Similarly, at the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, CP Fatai and Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu discussed strategies to improve security along Lagos waterways, with emphasis on structured coordination in multi-agency operations.

The Lagos police chief commended the Armed Forces for their continued support to the Nigeria Police Force, describing inter-agency synergy as vital to crime prevention, maintenance of law and order, and the protection of critical national assets.

He reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders to ensure public safety and create a secure environment for socio-economic development.
