MGDLI Mobilises Lagos Muslims for Three-Day Mosque Development Programme

The Mosque Guidance and Development Lagos Initiative (MGDLI) has urged Muslims across Lagos State to participate in its forthcoming three-day anniversary programme aimed at strengthening mosque administration and improving community welfare.

The programme, scheduled for October 30 to November 1, 2026, will hold at the Lagos State First Secretariat Mosque Hall (Olanike Hall), Shamsi Adisa Thomas Central Mosque, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

MGDLI said the event would bring together Imams, mosque administrators, Islamic scholars, youth groups, Muslim professionals, community leaders and other members of the Ummah to discuss practical ways of building stronger, cleaner, safer and better-managed mosques.

“The responsibility of developing our mosques does not rest solely on Imams and mosque committees. Every Muslim has a role to play in building institutions that reflect the values of Islam, accountability, cleanliness and service to humanity,” the organisation stated.

Activities lined up for the anniversary include special prayers during the Jumu’ah service, health outreach, sanitation and hygiene training, first-aid sensitisation, a keynote lecture and networking sessions.

According to the initiative, the programme will provide a platform for participants to exchange ideas, acquire useful knowledge and support efforts to improve mosque administration and the welfare of worshippers and surrounding communities.

The organisation said the initiative reflects Islamic teachings on cleanliness, good governance, communal responsibility and mutual support.

“This gathering is not merely an anniversary celebration; it is a call to action for Muslims to work collectively towards building stronger institutions and healthier communities,” MGDLI said.

A key feature of the programme will be a medical outreach organised in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Muslim Nurse Forum. The outreach will provide free health checks, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, counselling and referrals.

MGDLI also called on philanthropists, Islamic organisations, corporate bodies and community stakeholders to support the anniversary and partner with the initiative on future mosque development projects.

“We invite every member of the Ummah to be part of this transformative programme. Together, we can build better and cleaner mosques, we can build stronger communities and a brighter future for coming generations,” the organisation added.
