Obasa Flags Off APC Campaign In Agege, Urges Supporters To Mobilise Voters
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, on Wednesday led a campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agege ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rally, held at Amoo Field, Orile-Agege, marked the commencement of the APC campaign in the Agege area.
Obasa, who is the APC House of Representatives candidate for Agege Federal Constituency, urged party supporters to take the party’s campaign to residents through door-to-door mobilisation, markets, artisan groups, religious centres and community associations.
He also called on supporters to work towards increasing the party’s votes in the constituency compared with previous elections.
Obasa urged the gathering to support the APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s Lagos State governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Senator representing Lagos West, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, and himself as the House of Representatives candidate for Agege Federal Constituency.
The rally was attended by traditional and religious leaders, APC leaders and supporters, representatives of trade associations and artisans, as well as leaders of non-Yoruba communities.
Obasa said the party would rely on its supporters to communicate its campaign message across different sections of the constituency ahead of the election.
He also described the turnout at the rally as an indication of support for the party in Agege and called on members to maintain unity.
“There will always be detractors, but we will not listen to the din of the marketplace,” Obasa said, while urging supporters to remain focused on the campaign.
The Speaker also appealed for calm during the election period, saying political differences should not lead to conflict.
“We must try to avoid conflict, because at the end of the day, the people will vote for their representatives - the people they truly want. Nobody can force anyone on the people,” he said.
