Police, Other Security Agencies Rescue 20 Abducted Prospective NYSC Corps Members In Imo


The Nigeria Police Force and sister security agencies have rescued 20 prospective NYSC corps members abducted in Imo State, six days after they were kidnapped.

The victims were rescued on Wednesday, October 7, at Amakohia Ubi Village, following sustained search-and-rescue operations by security agencies.

The prospective corps members were abducted on October 1, 2026.

The Police said the rescued victims had been taken for medical assessment and necessary care.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said in a statement that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators of the abduction.

Iniedu added that the Police and other security agencies would sustain coordinated operations until all those culpable were brought to justice.

He also appreciated members of the public for their cooperation and support, stressing its commitment to protecting lives and property, responding promptly to security threats and strengthening collaboration with sister security agencies.
