First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Mobilises APC Women For 2027 Elections, Targets Voters in 774 LGAs

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has charged APC women across the country to take the party’s 2027 re-election campaign to the grassroots, targeting voters across the 774 local government areas.

Mrs Tinubu gave the charge on Monday in Abuja while inaugurating the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council, which brings together various women support groups under a unified campaign structure for the 2027 general elections.

She said the women’s campaign council would coordinate mobilisation for APC candidates from the presidency to governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.

“We have collapsed every other women support groups into one — from Tinubu Again, Torch Bearers, etc. What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We’re here to promote APC, nothing less,” she said.

The First Lady said the campaign would feature six zonal mega rallies, state rallies and a grand finale in Abuja, with herself and the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, expected to participate in the zonal campaigns alongside other party leaders.

She urged Nigerian women to return to their respective states and communities to communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration and mobilise support for the President’s second-term bid.

Mrs Tinubu said the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0, themed “From Reforms to Prosperity,” was already yielding results, citing what she described as improvements in the economy, foreign reserves, investment, agricultural support and access to student loans.

“Tell everyone as you go back to your various states that you have a leader who is bold enough to take difficult decisions in the beginning. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity,” she said.

She called on women to demonstrate their support for the APC at the polls.

“Let us show the world that Nigerian women have spoken and we speak with one voice, that we vote APC again so that the solid foundation laid can be built upon,” she said.

APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, said the party’s women leadership would focus on taking the administration’s policies and programmes from government to homes, markets and communities.

“Our responsibility is to take the gains and opportunities of the Renewed Hope Agenda from policy to the people, from government programmes to homes, markets, communities and the grassroots,” she said.

Idele said the women’s structure would strengthen networks across wards and local governments, identify women requiring support and connect them to available empowerment opportunities.

She urged the women to move from mobilisation to measurable action, with clear responsibilities, grassroots structures, regular engagement and accountable results.

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also called for unity among APC women, saying they had a responsibility to ensure that the administration’s reforms translated into tangible benefits for Nigerians.

She pledged to work with the women across wards, local governments and states to deliver the APC candidate in the 2027 elections.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, challenged every woman at the gathering to mobilise at least 100 women for the APC.

“Go back to your communities, go back to your homes, door to door, neighbour to neighbour, community to community,” she said.

Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, described women as the “loyal workers” of the APC and urged them to convert their mobilisation into votes at the polling units in 2027.

He said the large turnout at the inauguration demonstrated the readiness of APC women to drive the party’s campaign.

Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, Amb. Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, said the wives of state governors were ready to participate in the nationwide campaign.

“All the first ladies are here. We are ready. We are ready for all the campaigns in all the states and all the campaigns in all the zones,” she said.

Wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, also urged the women to take the message of the administration’s programmes to their communities, highlighting interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative for students, women, older persons and people living with disabilities.

She described the 2027 election as an opportunity for beneficiaries of the administration’s programmes to support President Tinubu.

The wife of the Senate President, Ekaette Akpabio, and the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Fatima Abbas, also pledged their support for the mobilisation drive.

Fatima Abbas said wives of members of the House of Representatives were ready to mobilise 20,000 people in each of their constituencies.

Speaking on behalf of 40 female chief executive officers appointed by President Tinubu, Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, Bisoye Coker-Odusote, commended the President’s appointments of women to leadership positions and urged women to mobilise support for the APC while pushing for greater representation at federal and sub-national levels.

The various speakers pledged to take the APC campaign to communities across the country as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
