Adeleye Claims Table Tennis Gold At 2026 Lagos NUJ Media Games

Shakiru Adeleye of the Lagos State Television (LTV) has won the men’s table tennis gold medal at the 2026 Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Media Games.

Adeleye, who covers the Lagos State House of Assembly, defeated Opeyemi Badmus of the Ministry of Information and Strategy Chapel in straight sets, winning 11-7, 11-5 to emerge champion.

The competition was held on Wednesday, October 7, at the Lagos NUJ Secretariat, Iyala, Alausa, Ikeja, with members of the union participating in various sporting activities.

Adeleye, a regular medal winner in table tennis at the NUJ Media Games, expressed appreciation to the organisers, players, NUJ executives, members and his supporters for their encouragement.

The champion attributed his victory to the grace of God and commended the organisers for using sports to promote unity and camaraderie among journalists.

“I want to thank the organisers of the event, the players, the executive members of the union, all the members and my supporters,” Adeleye said.

He added that the victory would spur him to work harder and remain committed to the sport.

“I will not take this for granted, and I will continue to work hard to keep winning in future competitions,” he said.

The annual NUJ Media Games provides journalists and media practitioners with an opportunity to participate in sporting activities while promoting healthy competition, camaraderie and unity among members of the union.
