Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Campaign Council Mourns Pa Fasoranti, Hails His Legacy of Principled Leadership

Late Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti

The Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Campaign Council has mourned the death of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the revered Yoruba elder statesman and former leader of Afenifere, describing his passing as a major loss to the Yoruba nation and Nigeria.

The council, led by its Director-General, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, said the late Fasoranti’s life was defined by service, integrity, courage and an unwavering commitment to national development.

In a condolence statement issued and signed by Director of Information, Communication and Branding, for the Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Campaign Council, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, on Wednesday, the council said Fasoranti’s death marked the end of a significant chapter in the history of Yoruba socio-political development and Nigeria’s democratic struggle.

It noted that the late elder statesman belonged to a generation of nationalists whose commitment to justice, democracy and good governance transcended partisan politics.

The council also highlighted Fasoranti’s association with the progressive political philosophy of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, saying his lifelong commitment to educational advancement, social welfare and the empowerment of ordinary citizens remained relevant to Nigeria’s democratic development.

According to the statement, Fasoranti’s contributions extended beyond political advocacy, as he consistently upheld the principle that public office must be exercised responsibly and that leadership must be guided by conscience and service to the people.

It added that his steadfastness through different political eras earned him respect among political associates and admirers across ideological divides.

The council said his death came at a time when Nigeria needed the wisdom of its elders and a renewed commitment to principled leadership, national unity and democratic values.

“While individuals eventually leave the stage, the values they uphold and the institutions they help shape must endure beyond their lifetime,” the statement said.

The council extended its condolences to the Fasoranti family, the leadership and members of Afenifere, the government and people of Ondo State, the Yoruba nation and Nigerians mourning the elder statesman.

It also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family, urging Nigerians to preserve the late Fasoranti’s legacy of service, sacrifice and commitment to progressive governance.
