APC Taunts PDP Over Defections, Says Opposition Party on the Brink of Collapse
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying the recent wave of defections from the opposition ranks signals the beginning of its total collapse.
Reacting to the PDP’s dismissal of the defections as inconsequential, APC’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Seye Oladejo, described the opposition’s response as a “pitiable show of denial” and evidence of a party in free fall.
Oladejo, in a statement issued on Friday, said the crisis within the PDP was a result of years of internal deceit, lack of ideology, and serial betrayal among its leaders.
He added that the situation was “not mere political migration but a reflection of lost faith among its members.”
“The ongoing exodus from the PDP is confirmation that even its loyalists no longer believe in a party that has failed to reform itself or offer a credible alternative to Nigerians,” he said.
The Lagos APC maintained that the defections were a clear sign of growing confidence in the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which it said was already delivering measurable progress.
Oladejo further described the PDP’s current structure as “a fragile alliance of opportunists,” saying the party was now left with “undertakers staying behind to perform its final burial rites.”
He advised the PDP to look inward and confront its internal decay rather than “issuing hollow press statements,” adding that the defections were a validation of the APC’s leadership and policy direction.
