First Lady Launches Nationwide Menstrual Hygiene Initiative in Gombe

  First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the nationwide distribution of Flow with Confidence menstrual hygiene packs, aimed at empowering schoolgirls and addressing menstrual health challenges across the country. The initiative, unveiled in Gombe on Thursday, will see 10,000 packs of disposable sanitary pads distributed to each state and the Federal Capital Territory through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).  Each beneficiary is expected to receive a one-year supply. Senator Tinubu described the intervention as vital to ensuring that no girl misses school because of her inability to afford sanitary products.  She noted that many girls in rural communities resort to unsafe alternatives or stay away from school during their menstrual cycle, often leading to setbacks in education and, in some cases, school dropouts. Kano Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Drugs and Intoxicants Worth Over ₦120m

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects and intercepted large quantities of suspected illicit drugs and intoxicants valued at more than ₦42 million in separate operations across the state. A statement by the command's spokesman,  SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said police identified the robbery suspects as Nura Sani, 20, of Bauchi State, and Ibrahim Lawan, 35, of Katsina State, who were arrested after a September 14 raid on a residence in Tokarawa Quarters.  The statement said the suspects allegedly carted away a Mercedes Benz GLK valued at ₦26.5 million, alongside mobile phones and other valuables. In another operation at Jalli Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, operatives recovered 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules worth ₦40.5 million.
