Lagos Police Heighten Security For Eid-el-Kabir, Children’s Day Celebrations




The Lagos State Police Command has announced massive deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, said the deployment was in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to ensure adequate security during the festive period.

According to the Command, police personnel have been deployed to Eid prayer grounds, worship centres, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, critical infrastructure, entry and exit routes, and other strategic locations across Lagos State.

CP Fatai directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force personnel, Counter Terrorism Units, EOD-CBRN operatives and Traffic Officers to intensify visibility policing, crowd control and anti-crime operations within their respective areas.

He said officers were also instructed to strengthen security on highways, linking roads and other vulnerable points across the state to guarantee the safety of lives and property as well as free flow of traffic.

CP Fatai further warned officers and men of the Command to remain professional, courteous and civil while carrying out their duties.

He congratulated Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and also extended greetings to children across the state on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

The commissioner advised children and youths to avoid violence and criminal activities, while urging residents to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station.

He also appealed to travellers and road users to cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state during the celebrations.
