Lagos Police Receive Operational Assets Ahead Of Violent Crime Response Unit Launch

The Lagos State Police Command has received additional operational assets from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund ahead of the official launch of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in the state.

The initiative is part of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at strengthening rapid response operations and combating violent crimes nationwide.

The operational assets presented to the Command include two operational vehicles, fifty ballistic helmets, fifty bulletproof vests, and fifty ballistic shields to enhance the safety and effectiveness of personnel attached to the newly established unit.

Presenting the equipment on behalf of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting security agencies in Lagos through the provision of critical operational tools and logistics.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Command, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for their continuous support towards strengthening security operations in the state.

He noted that the operational assets would significantly improve the readiness of the Violent Crime Response Unit and further enhance the Command’s capacity to combat violent crimes, respond swiftly to emergencies, and protect lives and property across Lagos State.

The Commissioner of Police also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, crime prevention, and improved public safety in line with the reform agenda of the Nigeria Police Force.
