Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni

The Ogun State Police Command has deployed over 2,500 personnel and operational assets across Ijebu Ode and adjoining communities ahead of the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the deployment was part of proactive security measures approved by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

According to the command, the personnel include conventional police officers and tactical teams drawn from the Police Mobile Force, SWAT, Violent Crime Response Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Monitoring Unit, Force Intelligence Department, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and Motor Traffic Department.

The command also deployed Armoured Personnel Carriers, patrol vehicles, police motorcycles, surveillance teams, undercover operatives and rapid response squads to strategic locations across the state.

Areas covered include the Ojude Oba Pavilion, major highways, entry and exit points, hotels, worship centres, recreation centres, motor parks, markets and residential areas expected to witness heavy traffic during the festival.

The police said the deployment was aimed at ensuring effective crowd control, intelligence-led policing, traffic management, anti-crime patrols, visibility policing and swift response to security threats before, during and after the festival.

Ojajuni directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to remain on maximum alert and sustain aggressive patrols and stop-and-search operations throughout the celebration period.

He said special attention had also been placed on strategic routes including the Sagamu Interchange, Ijebu Ode–Benin Expressway and the Molipa axis to prevent criminal activities and traffic disruption.

He warned criminal elements to stay away from the state, stressing that security operatives were fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone attempting to disrupt public peace during the festival.

The state police chief also urged residents, visitors and festival participants to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.

The Ojude Oba Festival is one of the biggest cultural celebrations in Ogun State and attracts thousands of participants and tourists annually.
