OYOSUBEB Denies Involvement In Common Entrance Examination Result Leak

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has denied involvement in the alleged leakage of results of the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination, describing the allegation as false and misleading.

The Board, in a statement issued under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, said it was not involved at any stage in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the examination.

It therefore described attempts to link the Board, its chairman or officials to the alleged leakage as unfounded and capable of damaging its reputation.

OYOSUBEB said the administration of Adeniran had consistently upheld transparency, accountability and professionalism in carrying out its responsibilities and would not allow unsubstantiated allegations to tarnish its integrity.

The Board also clarified that complaints or inquiries concerning the conduct, administration or outcome of the Common Entrance Examination should be directed to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which it identified as the appropriate authority responsible for the examination.

While acknowledging the role of the media in holding public institutions accountable, OYOSUBEB urged broadcasters and media organisations to verify information and ensure accuracy and fairness before airing allegations concerning the Board or its officials.

The Board specifically warned the management and presenters of the radio station where the allegation was reportedly made against defamatory statements or continued smear campaigns against Adeniran.

It said any such action would be met with strong legal measures, adding that it would pursue all lawful remedies available to protect the reputation and integrity of its leadership.

OYOSUBEB urged members of the public to disregard the allegation and rely on verified information from the appropriate authorities concerning the Common Entrance Examination.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education in Oyo State and promoting quality, transparency and accountability across the sector.

CAPPA Backs FG’s Health Tax Policy, Seeks Higher Levy on Sugary Drinks

  The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has welcomed the Federal Government’s plan to channel excise-tax revenues from alcohol, tobacco, and sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) into health financing, but urged authorities to raise the levy on sugary drinks to make it more effective. World Food Day: CAPPA Warns Against Corporate Capture of Nigeria’s Food System

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to commemorate World Food Day 2025, the Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has raised concern over the growing dominance of ultra-processed foods in the country’s food system, warning that weak regulation and unchecked corporate influence are endangering public health. In a statement signed by CAPPA’s Media and Communication Officer, Robert Egbe, and released in Lagos on Thursday, the group said the government must urgently strengthen laws that protect citizens from deceptive marketing and unhealthy food products.
