President Tinubu Orders Immediate Rescue of Niger Abduction Victims

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies to immediately launch a coordinated operation to rescue victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State.

The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, expressed outrage over the abduction and killing of innocent citizens by criminal elements in the state.

Tinubu condemned the attack, describing the perpetrators as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity,” and vowed that those responsible would not go unpunished.

He extended his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, assuring them that the Federal Government would continue to stand with them during the difficult period.

The President also assured families of the abducted victims that the government would not relent until their loved ones were brought home safely.

Tinubu directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation until all the abducted persons are accounted for.

He declared that the attacks would not intimidate the country, stressing that the government would continue to defend citizens, protect communities and uphold the sanctity of human life.

The President also assured the Niger State Government of the Federal Government’s support, including necessary assistance for recovery, relief and security reinforcement.

“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” Tinubu said.

The University of Lagos Alumni Association has unveiled plans for its 55th Anniversary Awards and Recognition Dinner, scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. CAPPA Urges Policymakers to Regulate Festive Food Marketing in Public Interest

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has called on Nigerian policymakers to urgently regulate the marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages, warning that weak oversight is allowing corporate interests to undermine public health, particularly during festive periods. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos while presenting a new report titled Unhealthy Food Hijack of Festive Periods in Nigeria, CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, said incremental policy responses were no longer sufficient given Nigeria’s rising burden of non-communicable diseases.
