Lagos APC Counters PDP on Insecurity Claims, Defends Tinubu’s Security Measures
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed accusations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that President Bola Tinubu has “surrendered” to terrorists, describing the opposition’s remarks as irresponsible and unfounded.
In a statement on Monday, the party’s spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, said the President’s recent security decisions, including the temporary closure of schools in some states and the cancellation of a foreign trip, were strategic measures aimed at protecting citizens and strengthening ongoing rescue operations.
Oladejo said the successful rescue of 38 abducted persons in Eruku, Kwara State, demonstrated the effectiveness of the administration’s approach to tackling insecurity.
He noted that efforts were ongoing to free other victims held in captivity.
According to him, the PDP’s criticism reflected frustration, insisting that the opposition lacked the moral authority to speak on national security, given its past record in handling insurgency.
He argued that the temporary suspension of school activities in vulnerable areas was an intelligence-driven precaution and not a sign of weakness, adding that Tinubu had shown “stronger political will” in confronting security challenges.
The APC further maintained that improvements in security operations and gradual economic recovery had unsettled the PDP, which it accused of politicising national challenges.
Oladejo reiterated the party’s support for President Tinubu, stating that the administration remained committed to securing the country and preventing a relapse into the “era of widespread fear and helplessness.”
