First Lady Urges Nigerians in Qatar to Support Innovation Drive at Home
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians living in Qatar to support the Federal Government’s efforts to restore the nation’s global standing through innovation and collaboration.
She made the appeal during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community in Doha on the sidelines of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), where she is participating as a keynote speaker.
Senator Tinubu said Nigerians abroad must see themselves as “agents of change” who can help drive development through knowledge transfer, partnerships and mentoring young people at home.
“The Nigeria that gave us the opportunity to be what we are today—our youth also deserve it,” she said. “We need to hold on to the optimism that our dear nation will be great again. See all the wonderful things you are all doing. I thank you for making Nigeria proud.”
The First Lady encouraged the innovators and startup founders present to collaborate with local institutions, adding that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to strengthening innovation ecosystems.
She referred some of them to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who attended the meeting, for possible partnership opportunities.
Many Nigerians in Qatar showcased various startups and technological solutions at the WISE summit, which attracts global stakeholders in education and innovation.
Senator Tinubu also met with members of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities of Nigeria attending the Education Beyond Borders Conference in Doha.
The First Lady emphasised that education remains the foundation of national development, adding that “the best you can give children is the ability to dream? on their own.”
