Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 43 suspects during a raid on a notorious criminal hideout in Isheri-Olofin, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as part of the ongoing Operation KOSAYE.

The raid, carried out by officers of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit at about 11:00 p.m. on July 7, followed intelligence reports that the area opposite the Kara Cattle Market was being used for cult-related activities, drug abuse, prostitution and other crimes.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation led to the arrest of 28 men and 15 women. Officers also recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp, “Loud” and other hard drugs, 10 mobile phones, four power banks, a rechargeable hand fan, and a cross-body bag containing two ATM cards and a National Identity Card.

Babaseyi said all 43 suspects had been charged to court and remanded in the appropriate correctional facility. The suspects are facing charges including criminal conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession and use of suspected cannabis, prostitution, and operating an unlicensed brothel.

He added that some of the suspects were assisting investigators with information relating to other criminal cases under investigation, while follow-up operations were ongoing to arrest additional suspects linked to the criminal network.

He disclosed that with the latest prosecution, the total number of suspects charged to court since the launch of Operation KOSAYE has risen to 76, comprising 33 suspects prosecuted during the initial phase and the 43 charged after the recent raid.

The state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni commended the SWAT operatives for their professionalism and resilience, describing the raid as a significant milestone in the implementation of Operation KOSAYE.

CP Ojajuni warned that criminal hideouts, drug joints, brothels used as fronts for illegal activities and cult enclaves would continue to be identified and dismantled across Ogun State.
