AI Is the Future, Empower Yourselves With Skills, Disu Tells Women
The National President of the Police Officers' Wives Association, Chief (Mrs.) Olufunmilola Disu, has challenged women to equip themselves with practical skills and embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool for economic independence and future success.
Speaking during a visit to the POWA Skill Acquisition Centre in Dei-Dei Barracks, Abuja, Mrs. Disu said women who combine vocational skills with digital knowledge would be better positioned to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
During an inspection of the centre’s training facilities, she visited the Adult Education, Baking and Confectionery, Tailoring, Hairdressing and ICT departments, where she commended trainees for their dedication and determination to improve their lives through learning.
The POWA President stressed that traditional vocational skills remain valuable, but noted that digital literacy and AI are becoming essential for productivity, creativity and innovation in business and professional life.
“The world is changing rapidly, and women must not be left behind. Artificial Intelligence is creating new opportunities across different sectors, and we must prepare ourselves to take advantage of them,” she said.
Mrs. Disu also met with the management and staff of the centre to review operational challenges and discuss ways of improving training conditions.
As part of her commitment to strengthening the institution, she pledged support for staff welfare and for the maintenance and upgrade of facilities to provide a more conducive learning environment.
She said POWA would continue to prioritise programmes that empower women with practical skills, knowledge and access to modern technology, adding that such investments would help build stronger families and more resilient communities within the police ecosystem.
The visit, according to her, underscores the association’s determination to promote education, innovation and sustainable economic empowerment among members of the police community.
