APC Hails President Tinubu’s Reforms in Solid Minerals Sector

President Bola Tinubu The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded President Bola Tinubu for what it described as transformative reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which are repositioning Nigeria’s solid minerals sector as a key driver of sustainable growth. In a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated visionary leadership by diversifying the economy and unlocking Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth after decades of overreliance on oil revenue. CAPPA Names Rafsanjani Board Chair, Warns Against Reckless Mining Expansion

Auwal Musa Rafsanjani The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has appointed prominent civil rights advocate, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani as the new Chairman of its Advisory Board.  The announcement followed a board election held over the weekend. In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, CAPPA described Rafsanjani’s emergence as a renewed mandate to defend public resources, democratic space, and community rights across Nigeria and Africa. Mr. Rafsanjani, who also serves as the Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International Nigeria, brings over three decades of experience in anti-corruption, human rights, and legislative advocacy. MRA Report Accuses Government Officials of Majority of Attacks on Journalists

  Media Rights Agenda (MRA) on Monday released a new report detailing widespread attacks on journalists in Nigeria, with government officials and security agencies identified as the leading perpetrators. The 129-page report, titled “When Protectors Become Predators: The State Against Freedom of Expression in Nigeria,” was issued to mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists. It documents incidents recorded between January 1 and October 31, 2025. According to the report, government actors were responsible for nearly 74 percent of all violations against journalists during the period under review. The Nigeria Police Force accounted for 45 percent of the cases, making it the single largest source of documented attacks. Other implicated agencies include the Department of State Services (DSS), various military and paramilitary formations, as well as elected and appointed political officeholders at different levels of government.
