PSC Promotes 952 ASPs to DSPs, Declines 176 Found Retired, 3 Reported Dead



The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 952 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).


The Commission, however, declined the elevation of 176 ASPs who were found to have retired from the service, as well as three others suspected to have died.


These decisions were part of the outcomes of the first plenary meeting of the 6th Board of the Commission, held at its corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

The Commission's Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu, in a statement congratulated the newly promoted officers but urged them to demonstrate nationalism and adhere strictly to the laws and regulations guiding the police service.


He warned that the Commission would no longer tolerate diversionary or unauthorized actions by officers, stressing that there are established channels for addressing grievances.


Argungu further assured that the PSC remains committed to safeguarding the career progression of officers without hindrance.


Some of the beneficiaries of the promotion include Maidawa Yakubu, Edwin Thomas, Chagga Yakubu, Sabo Hassan, Omini Dickson, Grace Okon, Rose Bassey, Fidelis Offorbuike, Adamu Isa Audu, Ofem Uket, Elvina Ochia Chukwu (FCID Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos), Kyrian Igwe (Enugu State Command), and Ndidiamaka Onwude (O/C JWC, B Division, Kpirikpri, Ebonyi State Command).


Others are Rosemary Obianuju Egbo (Area Command, Warri, Delta State), Tabitha Gotan, Uya Bassey Johnson (Abia State Command), Elizabeth Ajik (NPF-NCC, FCID), Sunday Prince Ajaegbu (44 PMF, Force Headquarters, Abuja), Deborah Danjuma (SPU Base 7, Abuja), Olowu Yetunde Olatunde (Ogun State Command), Felix Okpaleke (32 PMF, Abakaliki), Zakka Bulus (FCT Command, Abuja), Kudirat Elegba (SPU Base 2, Lagos), Isioma Omodion (Delta State Command), Ukpabio Ayi Akiba (Rivers State Command), and Edna Emeh Bassey.


The Commission has communicated the approval of the promotions to the Inspector-General of Police for implementation in a letter signed by the PSC Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.

MRA Calls on Governments to Make Human Rights a Lived Reality for All Nigerians
