Enugu Teenager, Accomplice Arrested for Kidnapping, Murder of 5-Year-Old Cousin
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old, Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom, and his accomplice, 24-year-old Sunday Michael, over the kidnapping and gruesome murder of a five-year-old boy identified as Obodoagu Wisdom, the suspect’s second cousin.
Police said the child was reported missing on July 26, 2025.
Investigations revealed that the prime suspect, Ikediekpere, conspired with Michael, a security guard at 9th Mile from Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, to demand a ransom of ₦1 million from the victim’s father.
According to police, the accomplice was used to mask the suspect’s identity during the ransom calls.
However, when the money was not paid, the child was killed and buried in a bush near the family’s residence in Okinitor, Amankwo Ngwo, Udi Local Government Area.
Operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad arrested the two suspects on August 11 and 12, 2025, following intelligence reports. During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime, and the prime suspect later led detectives to the shallow grave where the boy’s body was recovered.
The exhumation was conducted in the presence of medical personnel, including a doctor, who confirmed the child’s death.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, described the incident as heartbreaking and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
He assured that the suspects would be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
Giwa reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims.
The statee police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information that can help law enforcement agencies track down criminal elements across the state.
