Police Charge 60-Year-Old Man for Rape of 24-Year-Old Woman in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and charged a 60-year-old man, Ajayi Femi, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman after spiking her drink.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the case was first reported at Meiran Police Station on August 22, 2025, by the victim’s sister before being transferred to the Gender Unit for further investigation.
Hundeyin said police investigations, including medical examinations, revealed that the suspect had laced the survivor’s drink, rendering her unconscious before unlawfully having sexual intercourse with her.
He noted that the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and has since been charged to court, where he was remanded in custody pending the next adjourned date.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences and maintaining public safety.
He also urged Lagos residents to promptly report cases of sexual violence at Family Support Units across divisions and area commands for swift action.
