NLNG says artificial intelligence (AI) is central to its strategy for delivering cleaner energy and achieving its sustainability targets.
Speaking at the 2025 GASTECH Conference in Milan, Deputy Managing Director Olakunle Osobu explained that NLNG is embedding AI across its value chain to accelerate decarbonisation efforts, enhance emissions monitoring, and reinforce its “Goal Zero” health and safety policy.
“AI is today’s driver of sustainability in the energy sector. At NLNG, we are applying it to strengthen our energy transition commitments and deliver cleaner, more secure, and affordable energy solutions,” Osobu said during a panel session on “Operational Excellence through the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies.”
He noted that AI-powered tools are improving the accuracy of emissions tracking, supporting process optimisation to cut waste, and driving predictive maintenance that reduces downtime and lowers environmental risk. Virtual reality and smart analytics, he added, are also being deployed to build a workforce capable of managing new sustainability demands.
“By integrating AI into our existing platforms, we are not just improving efficiency but also aligning with global climate objectives,” Osobu said.
He emphasised that NLNG’s investment in AI adoption is anchored in its value-first approach, backed by staff upskilling through its Centre of Excellence, to ensure technology delivers tangible sustainability benefits.
According to him, the company’s participation at GASTECH 2025 is a demonstration of its leadership role in shaping industry-wide conversations on innovation and energy transition.
NLNG has consistently highlighted innovation and inclusivity as critical pillars in its mission to remain globally competitive while “improving lives sustainably.”
