Enugu Pastor, 63, Remanded for Alleged Rape of Two Sisters
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 63-year-old pastor, Luke Eze, for allegedly raping two sisters aged 16 and 19 in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement that the suspect, who leads the City of Hope Ministry also known as Ọkụ Night at Okunito-Amansiodo in the Oghe community, was taken into custody on September 11, 2025, after the victims’ parent lodged a complaint.
Investigations revealed that on September 7, the cleric lured the younger girl to his church under the guise of a deliverance session. There, he reportedly made her perform a ritual and then administered a liquid substance that left her unconscious before assaulting her.
When the girl failed to return home, her older sister went to the church and suffered the same fate. Both victims reportedly regained consciousness the following day to find evidence of assault on their bodies.
Police said they recovered two bottles of the substance allegedly used in the crime, now undergoing forensic analysis.
Eze reportedly confessed, attributing his actions to “the devil.” After investigations by the Gender and Anti-Human Trafficking Section of the State CID, he was charged to court and remanded in custody.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa, described the incident as “abominable and senseless,” warning the public against falling prey to criminals hiding under the guise of spirituality.
