Governor Fashola approves appointment of 4 judges

 The Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola has approved the appointment of four high court judges for the state.

The newly appointed judges are Mrs. Iyabo Akinkugbe, Mrs. Serifat Sonaike, Mr. Abdulfattah Lawal and Mr. Abisoye Bashua.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Judiciary, Grace Alo in a statement said the approval followed the recommendation of the National Judicial Council headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mukhtar.


The statement said the judges would be sworn-in on November 21.

UNILAG Alumni Association to Mark 55th Anniversary with Awards, Fundraising for Education Support

The University of Lagos Alumni Association has unveiled plans for its 55th Anniversary Awards and Recognition Dinner, scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Speaking at a news briefing in Akoka, President of the Association, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, said the event will celebrate distinguished alumni while raising funds to strengthen education at the institution.  Proceeds, he noted, will support scholarships for indigent students, provide research and teaching equipment, and fund a new 1,800-bed hostel project. MRA Calls on Governments to Make Human Rights a Lived Reality for All Nigerians

The Media Rights Agenda (MRA) on Tuesday called on Federal and State Governments to make human rights a lived reality for all Nigerians in accordance with their constitutional obligation to recognize and maintain human dignity.  It said that by so doing, they could begin to rebuild public trust in government, foster national unity, and unlock the true potential of the Nigerian people. In a statement issued in Lagos to commemorate this year’s International Human Rights Day, MRA lamented that the promise of human rights contained in the Constitution as well as in regional and international instruments that Nigeria is party to, has remained unfulfilled for far too many citizens as the country has spiraled into a jungle where only the fittest survive and human life has little value.
