CP Giwa Earns Praise For Proactive Policing in Enugu
The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has received commendations from local government officials and a delegation of retired senior security officers for his proactive and community-focused approach to policing in the state.
The accolades came during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Dr. Vita Ndu, and members of the Eche Obodo Security Group, a coalition of retired security chiefs from the Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
Dr. Ndu praised CP Giwa’s swift response and decisive action in the aftermath of a recent kidnapping and ritual killing incident in Umuojor, Isiagu Umumba Autonomous Community. He described the Police Command’s intervention as timely and effective in restoring calm and reassuring the community.
Speaking on behalf of the Eche Obodo group, retired Major General Godwin Ugwuoke highlighted the notable improvements in security under CP Giwa’s leadership. The delegation, which included former Commissioners of Police, Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS), and Immigration Controllers, acknowledged the CP’s dedication to professionalism, transparency, and results-driven policing.
“We have seen a remarkable change within a short time. His leadership is already making a difference,” Gen. Ugwuoke remarked, pledging the group’s continued support to the Command.
In his response, CP Giwa expressed appreciation for the recognition and pledged to maintain the Command’s focus on proactive, collaborative, and community-based security strategies.
“We are committed to sustaining the fight against crime with professionalism and a people-first approach,” the CP said. “Security is a shared responsibility, and the partnership of citizens and stakeholders is essential to long-term peace and safety.”
The Commissioner called for ongoing cooperation from residents, local authorities, and community leaders in strengthening the state’s security architecture.
The visit underscores growing confidence in the Enugu State Police Command’s leadership and efforts to build a safer and more secure environment through inclusive and responsive policing.
