Okada unions react

Meanwhile, the two recognized commercial motorcyclists unions in the Lagos have kicked against the state government’s new measures to restrict the movement of their members.

The state chairman of Motorcycle Operators Association, Tijani Perkins wondered why the state government must continue to issue riders card and as well restrict their movement.

He said state should rather ban okada instead of frustrating them from earn a living in the state.

For the All Nigeria Autobike Commercial Owners and Workers Association, its state Chairman, Aliyu Wamba said the law is against the people doing their legitimate business in Lagos.

Over 92 Vehicles Impounded as Akerele Leads Taskforce Team to Clear Oshodi Highways

CSP Adetayo Akerele, centre, and his enforcement team Operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce led by their new Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele on Saturday impounded over 92 vehicles parked indiscriminately along the highways and picking up passengers at undesignated bus stops, causing serious impediments to traffic flow and pedestrian movement in Oshodi area of the state. Akerele who was the former second in command of the Agency demonstrated clearly that he knows the job and the terrain. “This is no longer business as usual. Parking vehicles along the expressway which is meant to serve the entire populace is completely selfish and irresponsible.
