Ibrahim Lamorde: A Beacon of Dedication in Anti-Corruption Fight - ICPC Chairman

The late former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Deputy Inspector General of Police (rtd), Ibrahim Lamorde has been described as a beacon of dedication and inspiration to many in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.


In his condolence message, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN said DIG Lamorde “made significant contributions to our nation, tirelessly working to uphold justice and ensure accountability.”


According to him, Lamorde’s doggedness and commitment to transparency and the rule of law inspired and will continue to inspire the younger generation and many practitioners in the anti-corruption sector. 


“It is through the efforts of individuals like late DIG Lamorde that we continue to have hope for a better and corruption-free society”, he added.


He said the entire management and staff of the ICPC are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Ibrahim Lamorde. 


“During this difficult time, the Commission sends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the EFCC. 


“Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, as we hope that they find solace in the memories of late Lamorde’s life and the positive impact he had on so many people in the course of his national assignment as a police officer and an operative of the EFCC. 


“May they also find comfort in the love and support of those around them. 


“It is our prayers at the ICPC that the Almighty Allah give the EFCC and the deceased’s immediate family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”


Lamorde died aged 61 in Cairo, Egypt, on Sunday, May 26, three days after undergoing a surgery.
