CBN increases forex sales by N4bn

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Wednesday increased its forex by 25.73 million dollars (about N4 billion) worth of foreign exchange at its 31st bi-monthly Wholesale Dutch Auction System (WDAS).

The apex bank disclosed this on its Website, released after the WDAS trading.

The CBN sold 272.25 million dollars (N42.19 billion) as against the 246.52 million dollars (N38.21 billion) sold on April 22.

The CBN had not gone above selling 300 million dollars weekly since the beginning of the month.

According to the bank, the naira maintained its appreciation against the dollar at the auction, trading at N155.75 to the dollar.

It said that 19 banks participated at the bi-weekly WDAS auction as against 18 banks that traded in the auction on April 22.
