Police rescue 1,750 kidnap victims in one year

                IGP Kayode Egbetokun The Nigeria Police Force says 1,750 kidnap victims have been rescued within the last one year of President Bola Tinubu's administration, The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday that their operations within the same period led to the recovery of a significant cache of illegal items, including 2,566 firearms, 19,510 rounds of ammunition, and 1,475 vehicles/motorcycles nationwide. He said in the past one year, the police successfully arrested 4,826 armed robbery suspects, 3,078 kidnapping suspects, 2,479 suspects for rape/sexual crimes, 1,243 suspects for unlawful possession of firearms, 3,523 suspects for cultism, 3,381 suspects for murder/homicide, 13,402 suspects for other offenses. Police arrest two kidnap suspects with AK-47 in Kogi

    Kidnap suspects Two kidnap suspects have been arrested with an AK-47 rifle and some magazines in Kogi State.        AIG Yetunde Longe The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has approved the posting of two senior police officers to strategic positions within the Nigeria Police Force. The appointment was part of ongoing efforts to bolster the efficiency of the Force and multinational approach to tackling crimes. AIG Yetunde Longe was appointed the Force Secretary. A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of N10.7m traced to the bank account of one Togboui Gnadzo Soncy Koakli, Vice Chancellor of Ecole Superieure de Gestion et de Technologies (ESGT), Cotonou, Benin Republic by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC for allegedly being proceeds of unlawful activities. In an ex-parte motion filed by Aniekan Ekong, Esq on behalf of ICPC before Hon. Behavioural Change Critical to Fight against Corruption - ICPC Chairman

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has charged staff of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology on the critical role of behavioural change in combating corruption in the workplace.   The ICPC Chairman gave the charge at the Annual Staff Sensitization Workshop organised by the Ministry on the imperatives of behavioural change approach in the workplace. Dr. Adamu, who was represented at the event by an Assistant Director with the ICPC, Dr. Anike Adeshina, further stated that the Commission was mindful of the gains inherent in the continuous in-house sensitization programmes, especially as it concerns behavioural change approach for controlling corrupt practices in the workplace.  He also revealed that communicating anti-corruption messages provides for better understanding of what constitutes corrupt practices in the workplace. The Oyo State Government has launched the Human Papilloma virus (HPV) Vaccine into the Extended Programme on Immunization (EPI) targeting girls between 9-14 years of age in the state. Speaking during a press conference in Ibadan, the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Muideen Olatunji said the Board targets 7.71% of the population. Dr. Olatunji described cervical cancer as one of the most common forms of cancer that affects women, stressing that the disease must be tackled head-long. The Executive Secretary said the government has launched the programme at St. Paul Anglican Primary School, Yanbule, Bashorun, where over 300 pupils were vaccinated. He urged parents and guardians to avail their daughters between 9 and 14 years old the opportunity to be vaccinated so as to prevent them from contracting cervical cancer.
