Over 92 Vehicles Impounded as Akerele Leads Taskforce Team to Clear Oshodi Highways

Accident: One Dead As LASTMA Rescues Other Victims On Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos

ICPC Urges Students to Advocate for Good Governance to Prevent Corruption

The Coalition for Whistleblowers Protection and Press Freedom (CWPPF) has condemned the reported attack on the Kaduna State correspondent of the Daily times Newspaper Mr. Gabriel Idibia, by officers of the Kaduna State Police Command on Tuesday, the 11th of June, 2024. Mr. Gabriel Idibia in a chat with the Centre for Journalism, Innovation and Development (CJID) confirmed that he was arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) police station, Gabasawa, while taking pictures of a large herd of cattle being shepherded by the police on Kachia expressway, a usually busy road in the state. Police Recruitment: No Date For Training Yet - PSC

The Police Service Commission says no date has been fixed for training for the recently shortlisted candidates for recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.  The Commission also wishes to confirm that all the dates being bandied around in the social media are fictitious and should be ignored.  A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani said the Commission has  been inundated  by calls and messages by concerned Nigerians on the authenticity of the dates in the public space. According to Ani, “the Commission is currently working with the Nigeria Police Force to determine the training colleges and will make a formal announcement at the appropriate time. “Successful candidates are requested  to wait for the official announcement of the date and  the colleges for the exercise”, he said. 

Andrew Ochekwo: IGP Institutes High-powered Investigation, Assures Justice

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode has directed the Monitoring Unit to conduct a thorough and high-powered investigation into the suspected murder of one Andrew Ochekwo. Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that this directive comes amid the numerous allegations, arguments, and counter arguments surrounding the case, which also involves the disappearance of two ladies, Celine and Afiba after their trip to visit the said Andrew in Aba, Abia State, for which he was alleged to be responsible. Passport Fraud: Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of one Mr. Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing a travelling passport fraud. The Commission had arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to the ICPC, Dr. Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha had, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Mr. Adeyinka defrauded one Mr. Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularizing the latter’s international passport. Adeyinka was said to have received the sum of N100,000 from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport but reneged.  The victim thereafter petitioned ICPC, which led to the investigation
