Customs seizes N14.6m frozen products

The Nigeria Customs Service has recorded seizures of Frozen poultry products worth N14,611,500.00. The service in a statement in by its spokesman, Joseph Attah said the record was made in the sixth and Seventh weeks of zero tolerance on importation of frozen poultry products tagged “Operation Hawk Descend”. The seizures which consist of 3,247 cartons of the banned products were impounded at different locations along the south western borders of Nigeria. This includes Badagry, Agbara Creeks and Villages. Others locations include Seme, Gbaji and Owode Creeks in Lagos and Idiroko axis. Nigerian Navy Warns Ship Owners Against Oil Theft

The Nigerian navy has intensified efforts to ensure safety of the maritime industry by taking measures to apprehend criminals on the sea. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas stated this while hosting the Nigerian Ship Owners Association in his office in Abuja. While urging the ship owners against the use of their vessels for crude oil theft, he said any suspect caught would be treated saboteurs who deserved stiff penalties. The naval chief remarked that, "while acknowledging that the majority of your member are carrying out legitimate business out there and like any other society you still have some bad elements that are perhaps dragging your name back, dragging the reputation back. EFCC Returns 10, 540 Euros to Polish Victim of Love Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered and returned the sum of 10, 540 Euros to a polish victim of Internet love scam. The victim, simply identified as Jamina, was allegedly duped 40,000 Euros by the suspect, Gabriel Oseremen Xavi who operates a fake Facebook account with the name, Collins Page. The suspect was traced to Benin City, Edo State, where he was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by the victim. Speaking on Wednesday at the Belgium Embassy, Abuja during the presentation of the sum of 10,540 Euro recovered from the suspected Internet fraudster, Ibrahim Lamorde, Chairman of EFCC, charged Western diplomats to sensitize their citizens against Internet love scam. Lamorde, who also urged them to focus more on lonely elderly people who have been found to be easy prey, added that “All the assets acquired by the suspect from the proceeds of the crime will be disposed off at the conclusion of trail, and the money returned to the victim.” Th
