Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the Federal Government would ensure that no one is above the law, saying this is the first rule of any developed country. Prof. Osinbajo who spoke while receiving the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja said there is no reason why Nigeria also should not be well run like such countries. According to him, "good economies are run by men not spirits. Men and women like you and I, flesh and blood. There is no reason why our country cannot be well run." The breakfast meeting hosted today by American Vice President, Joe Biden, afforded him opportunity to compare notes with his guest, President Muhammadu Buhari on the terror war. America had been beleaguered by terrorists, who launched massive attacks that killed thousands in September 2001, while Nigeria battles the Boko Haram sect causing carnage in the North-eastern part of the country. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu as the new Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu  succeeds Ade Abolurin, who has retired from service. Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, who was an Assistant Commandant-General of the NSCDC before his new appointment, hails from Muye in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State. He holds a B.Sc in Sociology from the University of Sokoto, and a Masters in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. President Buhari wishes Dr. Abolurin a happy retirement.

The presidency says the claim by a pirate radio station that President Muhammadu Buhari expressed anti-Igbo sentiments in a recent interview with the BBC Hausa Service is completely false, malicious and slanderous. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU in a statement said the voice being ascribed to President Buhari in the recording repeatedly played back by the pirate radio station is definitely not the President's and the claim that the station got the recording from a BBC interview is totally untrue. The statement said no one should be deceived by the pirate radio station's hate propaganda against the President. A former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, his two sons Aminu and Mustapha and one Aminu Wada Abubakar are to remain in prison till September 28, 2015. The quartet were remanded in prison custody this morning by Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano after they were docked on a 28-count charge of corruption and money laundering brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. They were arraigned alongside four companies where the Lamidos are believed to have interest. The companies are Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamiana Company Nigeria Limited, Bamaina Aluminum Limited and Speeds International Limited. Lamido is said to have abused his position as governor of Jigawa State between 2007 and 2015, by awarding contracts to companies where he has interest, using his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha as front. Contrary to popular belief, the Presidency has never ordered the dismantling of all military checkpoints along Nigerian highways.   The National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) said after a meeting with top military and security officers in his office in Abuja on Thursday that President Muhammadu Buhari never ordered a blanket dismantling of checkpoints from the highways. According to Dasuki, military roadblocks in flashpoints will continue to be maintained while those in relatively peaceful areas will be dismantled but soldiers will still be positioned in those areas while not blocking roads. He said it is both conventional and a global practice for governments to increase security measures whenever insecurity is heightened and appealed to citizens to endure attendant inconveniences as they are temporary.
